Activity Aide - Lanark Heights Long Term Care

Lanark Heights Long Term Care is a 160-bed home committed to providing seniors with an environment that respects each individual's right to quality services, dignity and self-worth.

Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Activity Aide provides physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual programs to the residents. The Activity Aide is also responsible for the completion of all required documentation.

This is a part time position with varied hours.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Therapeutic based programs for seniors with varied needs.
• Complete initial assessments, and devise appropriate goals and plans of intervention.
• Work as part of interdisciplinary team
• Attend annual care conferences
• Maintain accurate and professional documentation

Experience & Qualifications:

• Must have a Diploma/Degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies from a recognized College or University, with a focus or specialization in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Previous related experience, with demonstrated knowledge and application of the principles of recreation in a LTC setting
• Knowledge of the disease and aging process.
• Effective organizational skills and abililty to adapt quickly to changes in routine
• Proven ability to work in a team, as well as independently on assigned duties.
• Previous experience with RAI/MDS an asset.
• Must provide clear criminal record check
• Current member of TRO
